Pay for AI usage, not for the app

The Rin Chat app is free. Every feature is unlocked, there is no trial, and there is nothing to buy to use it. What a subscription buys is convenience: it covers your AI usage so you never have to create a provider account, generate an API key, or paste an endpoint into a settings page. Prefer to handle that yourself? Bring your own key and pay us nothing.

These plans are a draft. Final prices and credit amounts are still being set.

Plans

Prices are in US dollars. Taxes may apply depending on where you live.

How the subscription works

The app is free — this is not a paywall

No feature in Rin Chat is locked behind a subscription. Cards, chats, lorebooks, group chats, encryption and backups all work the same whether you pay us or not. A subscription changes where your AI comes from, not what the app can do.

What a subscription actually saves you

Using your own provider means creating an account there, generating an API key, keeping it safe, pasting an endpoint into settings, and watching a second bill. A subscription removes all of that: sign in and write, with one bill and nothing to configure.

Bring your own key instead

Point Rin Chat at any OpenAI-compatible endpoint and pay that provider directly. You need no subscription, the app stays fully usable, and your key never leaves your device.

Cancel at any time

A subscription renews each month until you cancel it. After you cancel, the app keeps working with your own API key, and your local data is untouched.

Billing questions

Do I need a subscription to use Rin Chat?
No. Connect your own OpenAI-compatible provider and the app works with no subscription.
What happens when my credits run out?
Hosted generation pauses until the next billing period. You can still use your own API key at any time.
Do unused credits roll over?
No. Credits are granted for each billing period.
Where is my data stored?
On your own computer, encrypted at rest. The app does not need cloud sync to work.
