Before you download
This is an open beta. The app ships frequently and some things will be rough. Everything you create is stored locally and encrypted, and the app can export a full encrypted backup — please take one regularly, and keep your recovery key somewhere safe.

The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen will warn that the publisher is unknown. Choose More info, then Run anyway. A signing certificate is on the way.
Linux
64-bit x86 (amd64)- Download AppImage
Portable (.AppImage), about 100 MB
Mark it executable with chmod +x and run it. Nothing to install.

Join the Discord while it downloads
The beta moves fast and Discord is where it happens — help when something breaks, known issues before you run into them, early builds, and the place feature requests actually get read. If there is something you want Rin Chat to do, this is where to say so.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11 64-bit, or a 64-bit x86 Linux desktop.
- An API key from an OpenAI-compatible provider. You choose the provider and pay them directly.
- Disk space for your own cards and chats — the app stores everything locally.
After you install
- Set a password. It protects the encryption key for your local data.
- Save the recovery key somewhere safe. It is the only way back in if you lose the password.
- Add your provider and API key in settings, then pick a model.
- Export a backup once you have cards you care about, and again from time to time.
Other platforms
macOS is not released. There is no download for it and no date to promise — when there is a signed, notarised build, it will appear here.
